Trauma can lead to anger, depression, anxiety and other unwanted emotional conditions. Please check my other hub pages and treat each emotion separately.
TFT treatment points.

Eliminating the impact of shock and trauma

Trauma and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) exists in many forms and variations. When exposed to a shock our energy system is exposed to strong signals of vibration which can become chronic disturbances affecting the mind and the body. As for anxiety and panic attacks it is the sympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system that takes over. This treatment promotes realignment neurologically, in the physical body and in the energy system. Imagine a two-way communication activating the natural healing data held within.

Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is an amazingly fast way of eliminating unwanted emotions. This treatment for trauma, shock and PTSD can also be used for panic attacks, anxiety, phobias and addiction.

Please prepare yourself by reading the full instructions before you start.

Step 1 Find pen and paper. Think about the trauma. Notice the degree of the discomfort. Rate the level on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is no discomfort and 10 is the worst possible. Note the number on a piece of paper.

Step 2 While thinking of your problem and feeling the unwanted emotions take two fingers and start tapping. It makes no difference which hand you use or which side of the body you treat.

Step 3 Tap the PR spot which is located where you would hit if you were to do a karate chop with the side of your hand. (No. 1 on the image). Tap 5-10 times.

Step 4 Tap the beginning of your eyebrow 5-10 times (No. 2 on the image).

Step 5 Tap 5-10 times under your eye on the top of your cheek bone (No. 3 on the image).

Step 6 Tap 5-10 times under your arm approximately a hand's breadth below the arm pit. (No. 4 on the image).

Step 7 Tap 5-10 times under your collarbone approximately 1.5" from the center of your body. (No. 5 on the image).

Step 8 The Nine Gamut series. Keep your head perfectly still throughout the Series and gaze straight ahead. Tap your Gamut point on the surface of your hand in the indent between your little finger and your ring finger (where Gamut is located on the image). Keep tapping as you proceed with the exercises outlined below. Tap 5-10 times per step.

  1. Look straight ahead.
  2. Close your eyes.
  3. With your eyes only look down to the right.
  4. With your eyes only look down to the left.
  5. Roll your eyes around in a big circle.
  6. Repeat rolling your eyes the opposite way around.
  7. Hum a few tones with your mouth closed.
  8. Count aloud to five. Remember to tap all the time.
  9. Hum again.

Step 9 Repeat step 4-7 tapping the beginning of your eyebrow (No. 2), under your eye (No. 3), under your arm (No.4) and under your collarbone (No. 5.).

Step 10 Reconnect to your unwanted feeling and rate the level on the scale from 1 to 10. If the discomfort is at 2 or lower; Continue to Step 11. If the discomfort is unchanged or if it has not decreased by at least 2 points on the scale; Repeat the procedure from the beginning. If going through the procedure several times isn't helping, I would advise you to seek further help.

Step 11 Final step is finishing the treatment with the eye-roll exercise. Hold your head perfectly still and start tapping the Gamut point on the surface of your hand as indicated on the image. Keep tapping and while keeping your head still, let your eyes roll in slow motion from the floor all the way to the ceiling (at least for 6 seconds).

Congratulations! You finished the TFT self help tool for traumas and post traumatic stress disorder.

This sounds similar to a therpay that uses eye movement. Where can I read more about this therapy?

Ms Chievous,

You can read more about Thought Field Therapy (in brief) on my hubpage named Thought Field Therapy: Healing from within, and on my website www.tftmanagment.com There are also a couple of great books on the subject: Thought Field Therapy by Suzanne M. Connolly and Tapping the Healer within by Roger Callahan. There are links to these books on the hubpage mentioned above.

As for the eye movement in the therapy, it is related to EMDR techniques, however, combining it with tapping acupoints is unique to TFT and what makes it so fast, easy and effective. There is a great Utube video on EMDR here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBtqWrs2-K0

Have a great day and thanks for asking...

Hi, Catherina

It's good to see this information being spread around. I'm more familiar with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) but it's pretty much the same. These are powerful techniques, but in our experience they don't work for everyone, or every trauma.

I thought your readers might like to know about our website which provides a lot of information on the nature, causes, and incidence of trauma. It discusses and gives some general advice on different approaches to healing - including EFT/TFT. It's URL is: http://www.humansolutionsnow.com/

Hi Malcolm

thanks for your comment.

TFT may look the same as EFT - but it isnt. EFT is a shortcut, TFT the origin. If you are TFT trained you learn to muscle test so you can diagnose an individual treatment - which means what points to work with in which sequence. EFT just taps all of them. If you diagnose the treatment, it does work almost always :-) You may read more here: www.triuneinstitute.com

Good luck with your ventures.
